Bruin Influencers: William Truong and Sandra Nguyen
William Truong is a junior at UCLA and is a brother of Zeta Phi Rho, a social fraternity on campus, as well as a leader for the Southweast Asian Campus Learning Education & Retention (SEACLEAR). Besides working part-time at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, William enjoys hanging out with his fraternity brothers and sister sororities and snowboarding! Hope you get a ton of comments on your new Superdry graphic tee when you’re sporting it while hanging out with your buddies!
Sandra Nguyen is a also junior at UCLA, and she is a board member for both Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity, and the Southeast Asian Campus Learning Education & Retention (SEACLEAR). Sandra is looked up to by many of her peers as a very responsible and reliable leader who puts 110% of herself into everything she does. You cutie, can’t wait to see you rock those black and pink Superdry flip flops on campus!
Hey all, I have more fantastic news - I’m traveling to Peru and Argentina after graduation, woohoo! This is my first time visiting South America, so I could NOT be more excited! And if you guys are traveling for the summer as well, I’d like to share a few essentials to pack for the plane ride to make it less bearable, especially in the ghastly cramped enclosures of economy seating!
1. A HOODIE
This orange label zip hood will help you look cute while staying warm! It’s comfortable and doubles as a blanket if you unzip it and wrap yourself in it. And honestly, it’s much thicker than the wafer-thin, pathetic excuse of a blanket the airlines provide, and trust me, the planes can get SO COLD!!
I am a huge proponent for hoodies, but I draw the line at sweatpants. Mind you, while you want to be comfortable, you are STILL in a public space, and there WILL be attractive men, as well as girls in their chic outfits and 5-inch heels (never understood that part) and you do NOT want to be compared. That is why I have recently become an advocate for jeggings done right. Not the cheap jeggings with silkscreened pockets and seams (oh god no), but quality jeggings, like the ones at Superdry! I can’t seem to find the exact pair online, but I just recently got a pair in stores. They are ever so comfortable and extremely flattering!
3. COMFY SHOES
Moving on to footwear. I’ve also never liked Uggs (sorry), but hello moccasins! They’re comfortable and cute, and they just make sense. Especially the Monty Moccasin by Superdry. They’ll keep your feet nice and toasty, and they’re easy to slip on and off if you want to tuck your feet under you and nap on the plane.
4. NOISE-CANCELING HEADPHONES
Crying baby? Noisy chatter? No problem! As long as you’ve got your Superdry Technical Headphones on hand, you can listen to your favorite tunes and rest easy on the plane. I have a pair myself, and the sound quality is great and the ear cushioning makes for hours of comfy wear. At only $90 a pop, it’s a steal (forreals).
5. iPad 2 SHELL
I don’t actually have an iPad (sad face), BUT IF I DID, you can bet your buttons I’d slap on this super sleek Superdry iPad 2 shell to keep it protected during my turbulent travels!
Whether you’re planning a weekend away for Memorial Day, or just relaxing at home, I’ve put together a cute and effortless little outfit for you to look your very best. Voila!
My weekend happens to be filled with BBQs with friends and family so it’s important for me to look good for the camera and still be able to run around (and discreetly stuff my tummy with food). To serve all these purposes, I’ve chosen the versatile Superdry vest dress in pale lavender, which I would tie this cute lofter shirt in overall blue over and top off with the GORGEOUS Davidson shoes in eva pink. Throw on some stunna cateye sunglasses in black and with the trucker wing shield cap in white, you’ll be lookin’ clean and crisp. Not to mention, the Brighton tote bag is just the right size for carrying all your feminine essentials. And there you have it! A pretty, simple outfit for Memorial Day (:
Colored jeans are super hot this season, but I know they can seem a little daunting to style. Have no fear! Here are three ways in which you can pull them off effortlessly!
1. CLASSIC PREP
Here, Pippa Middleton looks incredibly chic in the Superdry Powered Denim Slim jeans in Poppy. She pairs them with a dark button-up and a crisp blazer, and tops off the look with black suede boots for a clean, streamlined prep look from top to bottom. You can also opt for brighter neutrals, like a beige blazer, a white-button up, and nude pumps for a more up-town look!
2. TRENDY FLORALS
What better way to usher in the summertime than by complementing the bold denim hues with playful florals? (Hey look, that’s me!) In the photo above, I’m wearing the Superdry Slim Powdered Denim in Turquoise, which I absolutely LOVE, and I decided to match with a bare-shoulder floral button-up and strappy sandals from Zara!
3. THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
And if you’re feeling bold, play up your colored denim with a graphic cut-off, studded flats or black, grunge boots, funky accessories, and if you want, even throw in a neon watergun! Above is a model I helped style for a photoshoot, and if you want to get her look, check out some of the b-e-a-u-tiful Superdry Strut Sulfur Jeans!
Of course, your styling isn’t limited to what I’ve mentioned above - your colored denim is what you make it! Happy styling!
Mimi Tang, a 4th year Design and Media Arts major at UCLA, has a very keen sense of style! In between interning for design companies, Mimi loves shopping at her favorite stores, including Monki, American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, and local thrift stores.
"I was initially drawn to the Superdry flip flops because of the way the Helvetica font bleeds over. That, and I love Helvetica and the clean colors of the shoe. It’s probably because I’m a design major,” says Mimi. After walking around in the flip flops, she was delighted by how surprisingly comfortable they were!
I know all y’all are persevering through with midterms and other assignments that keep our quarters buys. But we have summer to look forward to - it’s just around the corner! That means beach time for sunny SoCal! Superdry has great swimwear items, both for men and women. One of my personal favorites are the competition boardshorts. Very clean and simple, yet stylin’!
Plus, you can just order them online on your next study break because our discount code of 20% off also works on the site!
Angela Tong, a senior at UCLA, is a board member for both Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) and the Undergraduate Business Society (UBS). She describes her style as girly and comfortable, drawing inspiration from her favorite Korean pop stars. She prefers looser-fitting tops, and thus this larger tee works perfectly for her when paired with shorts and tights.
Looking good, Angela! Would love to see how you mix and match to make this rustic Americana style your own!
Hey gals and guys! I know some of y’all might be busy studying for midterms, working on projects and presentations, and other responsibilities that might have you swamped! Well, here’s a short study break for you, my fellow bruins and friends! I know for myself, i just like to stay at home and do work, therefore I just love being in comfortable clothing. Lo and behold, Superdry has very comfortable loungewear that makes it, literally, feel great to study in!
I’ll admit, I was a little worried that no one was going to show up amidst midterms and finals, but much to my delight, friends and Superdry fans alike made the drive out to the Beverly Center to support us and went home carrying bags and bags of new Superdry gear! What a wonderful way to congratulate the graduating class of 2012 and the nearing close of the successful SDU 2012 Ambassador Program! I personally had a blast that night, and have a few pics to share :)
Foes no more. A necessary mirror photo of the USC + UCLA Ambassadors!
UCLA Google Student Ambassador. Bearwear model. Former President of Upsilon Pi Epsilon. Bruin Cheerleader. And now, Wade is an (unofficial) Superdry model! One thing’s for sure - Wade will proudly be walking around campus in his new Swirl Beach T-Shirt in Indian Blue. “Yeah it’s a snug fit and you can tell the quality is really good,” Wade says of his new tee. And best of all, he’ll simultaneously be reppin’ Superdry and UCLA in all of the tee’s Bruin blue and gold glory!
Boys, if you want to have even half as much swag as Wade, proceed here. Happy swaggin’.
Erin Ng, a 1st year neuroscience major at UCLA, got super stoked upon receiving her Superdry thunderbolt tee. She’s an avid member of the UCLA Photography Club, as well as a photographer for our very own Daily Bruin! She’s known as “Miss Popularity” amongst EVERYONE, haha! No, but really! Anywho, amongst receiving her t-shirt, Erin exclaimed something along the lines of, “I get to be Superdried out! Call me Sahara.” You know, like the desert. LOL!
Looking forward to seeing you sport that tee on campus, Erin! :D
Rosa Lisa Chiu, a 4th year at UCLA, adores her Superdry navigator t-shirt in red! Lisa has been heavily involved in Mock Trial on campus, and this past fall, she was interning in Washington, DC as part of CAPPP (Center for American Politics and Public Policy). Lisa has a self-professed obsession with online shopping and thus conflicting emotions when I told her about the 20% discount code exclusive to Bruins: ”Superdry’s clothes are of amazing quality, and with this discount code, my bank account is really going to suffer!”
There there, Lisa. There’s no harm in treating yourself to a few well-deserved items to keep ya Superfly! Look forward to seeing you sport that tee on campus!
What is one thing that every student needs? Something to carry their books, laptops, and any other materials necessary to succeed in school. Since one has to carry one ALL the time, why not choose one that looks hecka good! A trend that I’ve been noticing, with both males and females in UCLA, have been the use of messenger bags, Superdry bags!
Also, my personal favorite, is this retro-styled alumni bag, which gives any of your outfits an air of class and sophistication, as seen here:
Now, you know you want one! Plus, it’s a great investment as a student, as this is an essential item to be used for your entire college career! And you know you can get it at even a cheaper price if you contact Ivana or me for a 20% discount (and that includes any items!)
This coming Monday, April 16th, Brad Goreski from Bravo’s “It’s a Brad, Brad World” will be having a Q&A session with us in Kerkhoff! Make sure to get a reservation to guarantee a spot to this awesome event! Superdry will be raffling off $500 worth of items AND you canenter for a chance to win a $300 shopping spree! You heard me right! This is an event you don’t wanna miss! Learn more about fashion and leave with fashionable items.
I have included a sneek peak of some of the items that will be raffled off! Just make sure to go to MyUCLA and click on “Event Reservation” to guarantee your entry! Look forward to seeing all of y’all there!
I’m so jealous of everyone who’s at the Coachella Music Festival right now (holla at the Superdry folks)! For those of you going next weekend and are unsure of what to wear, I’ve got your back! Superdry offers a rustic Americana style that is perfect for the Coachella desert setting. Take a peek at some of the items I’ve selected and see how you can mix and match!
Stop by the locations either in the Santa Monica Promenade or the Beverly Center to pick up some concert-worthy gear! And if you’re just chilling at home for the weekend like I am, well… there’s something for you too: technical headphones for $90! And trust me, the quality is prettttty amazing.
As always, hit me up for a sweet 20% discount. Happy shopping and Coachillin’!
So this past Sunday, I had the chance to go shopping for some Superdry swag with the stipend we receive as ambassadors (one of the many perks and joys of working for them)! Alongside came my girlfriend, which made things even funner!
Boys, if you want gals near and far to swoon over you, take a cue from the new-age bloodsuckers of True Blood, Vampire Diaries, andTwilight.
So… girls dig these guys for their pale skin, sharp teeth, and… glittering bodies? Well… no. Girls dig ‘em because these men know how to rock their Superdry apparel. Boys, take thorough notes.
Say hello to Kellan Lutz of Twilight looking absolutely dashing in one of Superdry’s iconic leather jackets. Roll up your sleeves and do some serious work by browsing the leather jacket collection here.
Total eye candy Ryan Kwanten of True Blood is all decked out from head to toe in Superdry gear. Oh Ryan, feel free to take a bite out of me any day. Oops… did I just say that out loud? Anyway, get the look with the Lumberjack Twill, a solid pair of denim jeans, and the new Trawler Boot.
Girls all over the world have gone mad with Beiber and Vampire Fever, so these guys must be doing something right! (Hint: it’s got something to do with Superdry, clearly).
Have I convinced you boys yet? Immediately boost your swag to level 9000 and start attracting the ladies by donning Superdry clothes! And don’t forget to message me for exclusive 20% off discount codes!
Over spring break, a group of some friends that I’ve known for the past few years in college had the opportunity to go on a trip enjoying nature. Two of my friends, Ashley and Charity, who are also roommates, bonded over their warm hooded polar windcheaters as they enjoyed the sunset.
Looking off into the distance! So legit!
The sun goes down, Charity remains warm in her jacket.
Pictured: USC Ambassadors Huy and Sarah, and I making silly faces in our new Superdry acquisitions. Note: I am wearing heels, I am not gigantor.
Thank goodness Superdry gives us a generous stipend for all our Superdry needs (one of the many awesome perks of being a campus ambassador), otherwise I would definitely be breaking the bank. Yesterday, Huy, Sarah, and I made a trip to the Superdry Santa Monica location to pick out a few goodies. Check out what I got!
For starters, I fell madly in love with this Peached Western Snapper the second I walked into the store and laid eyes on it. I’ll admit, I had a few moments of hesitation when I thought this shirt might look too Western, but in retrospect, the playful spring colors far and snug fit far outweigh any chances that this will make me look anything like a cowgirl.
Now this baby is a classic and a closet staple in its own right. One of the lovely sales associates told me that they sell on average about 10 of these a day per store; I’m not surprised! I actually already have one in basic black and white, but I could not resist the one in sophisticated Navy and Hot Pink text. It’s not listed online (but will soon be, fingers crossed) so here’s one similar: the Technical Windcheater in hot pink.
That was pretty much all I got today… but here’s a recap of all the other Superdry things I currently and proudly own!
There’s no doubt I have been heavily abusing this leather bomber. I zeroed in on this one when I saw it in the store, and when I say something’s going home with me, it goes home with me. No questions asked. Plus, the genuine leather smells oh so good. Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be on the website, but this Studio Bomber is comparable!
This Washbasket Shirt is very well fitted, and upon touching it, you can tell it’s of great quality. I also wore this shirt more than I should have… that is, until my sister decided to steal it from me. She’s super sly for Superdry. Ha, ha.
As mentioned before, I own this Technical Windcheater in basic black and white as well, and I LOOOOVE it. It is SO versatile, SO light, SO durable, and SO (for lack of a better word) COOL. I’ve received more compliments than I can count, and at least 10 of my friends have already flocked to the stores to get their very own.
If you’re lusting for one as well, hit me up for a 20% discount. Yeeeuh. I leave you now with yet another sexy shot of us three taken on my not-so-sexy camera phone. (Missing my partner-in-crime, Bryan!)
Thank you once again to Superdry for taking me to my first ever Lakers game! Last Friday, USC’s ambassador Sarah and I were invited to watch the Lakers v. the Portland Trail Blazers from the VIP Hyde Lounge in the Staples Center to celebrate the grand opening of the Superdry store in Santa Monica! We were rocking out to our private DJ alongside celebrities (including Brenda Song and the cast of Glee) and sipping on alchie. Talk about an awesome way to start the best spring break OF MY LIFE! Check out the pics below!
Sarah sportin’ her Superdry military jacket and me with my leather bomber.
Superdry goodies galore!
TEAM SUPERDRY! Reppin’ the Bev Center and Santa Monica Promenade.
I kid you not, the Stoli Superdry was bombtastic. Now to make my own rendition.
Yep, just loungin’ and livin’ the life.
Sarah and I with Rachel!
Stoli Superdry, finger food (lot more where that came from) and boots.
I think the photo says it all.
What’s in my bag, you ask? Just a sweet Superdry shirt and these sick headphones. Get at me for a 20% discount!
Needless to say, I had an incredible time (just wish that Bryan was 21 and could have joined us) and can’t wait to see what else Superdry has in store for us!
As I was looking for some good music to listen to in YouTube, I came across Justin Bieber’s “Somebody to Love (feat. Usher)” music video in which the Biebs wears the same jacket that I purchased not too long ago (the brad leather jacket). Here’s the link to the video, if you would like to see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOI4OF7iIr4 (keep your eye on Justin as he wears the jacket throughout the entirety of the video)
Since UCLA has been in break, I decided to have some fun by dressing like the Biebs as he sports this jacket! Enjoy, haha!
Ivana here. And now that I’ve defeated the abomination that is finals week, I’m gearing up for my senior year spring break in HAWAII!!! Can you tell I’m excited?! I know a lot of you girls have been hitting the gyms and starving yourselves in preparation for the bikini season (and if you haven’t, that’s cool too), so I want to complement all your hard work with some of my favorite picks for all the fun to be had under the sun! Hit me up if you want a 20% discount!
I feel like we’ve thanked y’all a gazillion times, BUT smiles still remain in our faces knowing that you, our friends, came out to support us, and really, words cannot express how grateful we still are! :’)
Here are some fun pics from the kickin’ “Kickoff Event”! Enjoy!
So excited to see one of our first guests arrive, Vera and Daniel! :D
A HUGE thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who came out to our Superdry Kickoff Event last Thursday at the Beverly Center! Out of over 110 RSVPs, we had an incredible turnout! You guys rock! And we’d also like to extend an equally big thank you to Snobar for so graciously providing free fluff ice at our event, as well as to DJ Jimmy Maheras for dropping such sick beats. It was definitely a party! Here are just a few photos I managed to capture on my camera; Bryan’s got some good candid photos that he’ll be posting soon, so be on the lookout for your model moment on this blog ;)
USC, GWU & UCLA Ambassadors, bonding over our shared love for Superdry.
Thank you Snobar for providing the most bombdotcom shaved ice in the history of cold desserts.
East coast meets West. Surprise visit from Marjory, the GWU Ambassador!
UCLA’s Delta Sigma Pi loves Superdry!
Apparently we raked in more sales that Thursday night than during their busiest Saturday nights!
Hello Snobar friends!
Can’t wait to host our next event! Much love from your UCLA Ambassadors,
And Superdry loves her. There’s no denying that Jamie Chung is one hot babe, and she rocks her Superdry Patrol Jacket like no other. So if you’re feeling inspired, come by our Exclusive Superdry Kick-off Event at the Beverly Center tonight to get yours for HALF-OFF. That’s right, 50% off all full-priced merchandise! Jamie Chung approves.
